1. What’s your biggest achievement / Something you’re proud of yourself for?
“Dance has always been my passion form the tender age of 4. I have no formal dance training and I learned how to dance from watching Bollywood movies. Unfortunately, I was always discouraged from taking dance as a career and was told that there would be no future in dancing. When the opportunity came up for me to train as a Zumba®instructor, I decided to embrace it and it is one of the best decisions I ever made. However, my biggest achievement to date has been opening and running my very own dance fitness classes called “Danzfit with Pooja.” I have grown from strength to strength, and this makes me feel proud. I get to live my dream of dancing everyday and have the privilege of sharing my passion with so many beautiful ladies. I have also been blessed with an awesome family who support me and allow me to follow my heart.“
2. What’s your biggest fear / something that holds you back?
“There is always a little something that holds us back and the tiny anchor that weighs me down is my self-doubt. I tend to question decisions and choices that I have made with the fear that it might not work out as I expected. However, I have learnt and realised that self-doubt is part of being human. I have embraced this and learnt to control this feeling by focusing on the present moment, always being grateful, changing negative thoughts to positive affirmations and practicing daily meditation.“
3. What’s your biggest contribution / Something you like to share?
“I have always wanted to empower women in my community. Through Zumba®, I have empowered so many ladies to express themselves for who they are by building up their self-confidence, self-esteem and allowing them to have fun and let loose. This brings me a sense of accomplishment. Every class is a new experience, and every class brings me a feeling of complete happiness, joy, and triumph- a feeling that never gets old.“
“Life is a party and I live to dance and sing. Family is my life, and my home is filled with craziness, laughter, and love. I love reading self help books and am a self-confessed dessert lover. Yoga calms me down and gives me the power to keep me balanced. I surround myself with people who bring out the best in me and keep my thoughts motivated and positive.“
