Candice Robinson, Race Horse trainer at Bass Racing Stables, and one of the few ladies in the Horse Racing Industry.Bass Racing was founded by my father Mike Bass, a legend of the game, and I have taken over the reigns 4 years ago to try and continue the family legacy in racing.

1. What’s your biggest achievement / Something you’re proud of yourself for?
“Winning the Vodacom Durban July in my first year of training with a horse called Marinaresco. The first time a woman has won Afica’s most prestigious event. In so doing , Candice became the 9th ranked female trainer in the global world ranking. I also won 2 grade 1 races in 1 day (J &B Met day) a few years later with Clouds Unfold and Russet Air, a very special filly to me. That was one of my career highlights.”
2. What’s your biggest fear / something that holds you back?
“Besides Spiders…The industry comes with a lot of pressure with high profile owners and very expensive Pedigree thoroughbreds. Making sure I give them all my highest care and attention is of the utmost importance to me. “
3. What’s your biggest contribution / Something you like to share?
“I always value my friendships and I’m a good listener. I try and be the best I can be, and to treat others with respect, hopefully it’s seen as a positive contribution.”
