“I started in the fitness industry at the young age of 16 and spent 12 years in personal training, teaching aerobics and competing in both sport aerobics and fitness model comps, back then better known as body shaping. I have practiced and taught all the traditional fitness industry diet and training methods. All of this left me with some eating disorders and a negative mindset in my 20s. And, sadly, ALL these teachings still go on today, some 30 years later! At the age of 49 and after almost 10 years back to back competing globally as a Vegan, since making the transition I am still thriving on this lifestyle. Read on to find out why I changed to this lifestyle over10 years ago.”
“Why Veganism? I made the switch at 39 years old to Veganism for a number of reasons. First, there was a cancer health scare when I was 36 years old, on top of the fact that I had constant acne, bloating and migraines. Then I lost my best friend ‘Zinni’ to cancer at the young age of 38. Thou, I became even more committed to Veganism, when I became aware of the animal cruelty involved in the meat and dairy industry. Shocked that I could be part of this system, I decided to stop eating meat, forever. Getting back to nature is so important on so many levels. We need to stop animal cruelty, in particular mass industrial slaughter farming, and become more environmental aware and help maintain and create more sustainable ecosystems. Mass agriculture is one of the major contributors to global warming, it’s polluting rivers and oceans and destroying forests around the world.
The rise in heart disease, and cancer are all due to excessive meat and dairy consumption. Paradoxically, the countries with the highest osteoporosis are the ones with the highest consumption of dairy…while on the other hand the countries with the lowest meat consumption have the lowest rates of all cancers and of the number one killer, heart disease.
The best and kindest thing we can do for our own health and well-being is to eat less meat, save animal lives and end the cruelty. This lifestyle also helps restore our environment…and our earth ‘s future depends on it. It’s really a win-win situation for all.”

Q&A
1. What’s your biggest achievement / Something you’re proud of yourself for?
“Biggest achievement in the past 10 years is helping women globally and their families, make healthier changes to their lifestyle. Around 30% of my clients over the past 10 years were transitioning to a vegan lifestyle, another 20% from vegetarianism and another 30-40% from eating a processed vegan diet and wanting to get healthier. It makes me happy, my passion in Veganism and bodybuilding can inspire others to make positive changes in their lifestyle.”
2. What’s your biggest fear / something that holds you back?
“I learned longtime, to never live in fear…therefore I have none. However, I do worry that veganism has gone so mainstream, that we now have a new issue of unhealthy plant based foods/chemicals being made and all the years of vegan activism, the message is now becoming shamed, as many vegans are becoming more deficient. Years ago with less choice, it was about ethical choices, which were indirectly healthy choices too. All vegan options as little as 10-11 years ago were 100% healthy plant based wholefood options. The challenge is now to get this message clear…”
3. What’s your biggest contribution / Something you like to share?
“This past year, I have been called numerous times, one of the OG’s of vegan bodybuilding. After googling what OG stood for (original gangster), you could say I was flatter! Haha…so it’s nice to be known for the years and years of leading the way…when no one else was. My message is still the same, but with a twist in more for longevity now that I move into my 50 year living on this planet. “
4. Fun Facts:
“I feel like I am ageing backwards, in my 20s I had children, homes. In my 30s, I travelled with my sons, backpacked, went to festivals, learned to surf and enjoyed life. Then in my 40s, I started animal activism, started back in fitness and began my global online career, as a vegan bikini athlete + coach and became an author and restaurateur. Looking looking forward to my 50s..in helping more people live abled bodied and a medication free thriving life!“
