Nicole van Aswegen has made waves in South African Motorsport as the first female motorcycle racer to ever compete in the 600cc South African National Championship.
The challenges she has faced, and overcome, has paved the path for many young women who aspire to compete in this male dominant arena, and so Nicole really is a trailblazer for women in motorsport, breaking down barriers and inspiring the next generation of female racers.

Nicole’s following extends not only throughout her home country of South Africa but also abroad proving her international and appeal opening up exciting possibilities on both local and global scale. Her significant personal success has been, and continues to be an inspiration.

Nicole starting racing motorcycles in 2005 and hasn’t looked back since. Her career highlights are as follows:
2009 -First lady to race a National 600cc Championship;
2010 – First ever South African ladies 600 Champion;
2011- Appointed Motorsport South Africa brand ambassador and finished top 5 in National Super Sport Championship;
2012- invited to race in the Triumph Cup in England Silverstone;
2013 – Official Women’s Training camp in Spain with BMW;
2015 – First lady to ever podium in a National Super Sport race
2018 – 3rd in the short circuit 250 cup
2019 – 2nd in super sport 300 & 1st in the short circuit 250 cup;
2020 – 2nd in Super Sport 300;
2021 – Appointed Ducati South Africa brand ambassador and achieved 2nd overall in the Ducati V4 championship;
2022 – Appointed BMW South Africa brand ambassador & finished 4thoverall in Superbike 1000.
2023- Appointed Bmw South Africa Brand Ambassador, Motorsport South Africa Brand ambassador and finished 4th overall in Superbike 1000.

1. What’s your biggest achievement / Something you’re proud of yourself for?
“Being on the podium in the national SuperSport class with only men racing I was very proud to be the first female to ever podium in a south African national championship”

2. What’s your biggest fear / something that holds you back?
“My mind it is the biggest challenge, and I’m sure it is to a lot of athletes.”

3. What’s your biggest contribution / Something you like to share?
“Giving back to motorsport – I train young riders in my team and help them to the best I can as I want them to also learn that hard work always pays off and to all the ladies who want to get into motorsport I will gladly help and motivate them.”

4. Fun Facts:
“I’m one of the smallest female racers in the world championship yet I probably eat the most LOL”
